What lies beyond global curating? Prominent curators of recent and upcoming global exhibitions address this question and more in a day of talks and discussions at ART COLOGNE. Bassam El Baroni (Alexandria) presents his theory of abstraction-non-contradiction, as applied in curating after globalization as we once knew it. Galit Eilat (Eindhoven/Berlin) explores the curatorial methods and conflicts she encountered cocurating the recent Bienal de São Paolo (2014). Monika Szewczyk, member of the curatorial team for the upcoming documenta 14, will talk about what it means to be not global, not local, but loco. The day of talks concludes with a panel discussion between the participants joined by Yilmaz Dziewior, newly appointed director of Cologne’s Museum Ludwig.
