Iby describes what happened to her following her arrest along with others involved in the Resistance. She was sent to a detention centre in Budapest, then a refugee camp in Ricsa. The situation changed markedly in 1944 when the Germans invaded Hungary. One night, Iby was staying with friends when an air raid prevented her from leaving. Later that night, the household, including Iby, was rounded up and taken to a local brickyard. From there they were transported to Auschwitz Birkenau.
