Few artists choose to tackle such subjects in their songs as abortion. But this is exactly what Jamaican artist Mykal Rose does in this number from his performance with The Ras Ites at Band on the Wall on 19th June 2010.
Mykal Rose joined Black Uhuru in 1977 and led them to international success, also writing much of their material. The group achieved the first ever Grammy Award for reggae in 1985 for their album, Anthum, featuring Rose's wide-ranging voice. He then left Black Uhuru to start a coffee farm in Jamaica's Blue Mountains. In 1989 he relaunched his international recording career and since then has over 30 albums to his name. He rejoined Black Uhuru in 2004 and performed several concerts with the group.
On his UK tour in 2010 and for his Manchester performance he was backed by The Ras Ites who join the list of renowned UK-based reggae groups that includes Steel Pulse and Aswad.
