This is called Faurxhol because it's my Faux Warhol!
I made this film as part of a BMW commercial I was working on in 2008. The concept of the commercial covered BMW from the 50's to the present all in one shot. As the shot progressed the scene and car changed to reflect the era being portrayed. You can see the ad here: vimeo.com/3199628
This short film was used in the 80's scene. It plays as a piece of "video art," being projected in an art gallery our car is displayed in. The agency instructed me that they wanted it somewhere between Devo and Warhol. So I took the color bars that were prominent in the Devo videos of the 80's, the bad green screen keying...then threw in a girl basically doing nothing (which is the Warhol). My fiancee made all the stars and graphics in Photoshop, and I jsut animated them very rudimentary in FCP. Shot entirely on a Sony tube camera from the late 70's.
There is one version where she is topless! The creative director requested we do one, knowing we'd never be able to use it! You have to love commercials.
The 80's song used in the piece was created by Gus Seyffert.
