The aim of a care pathway is to enhance the quality of care across the continuum by improving risk-adjusted patient outcomes, promoting patient safety, increasing patient satisfaction, and optimizing the use of resources. However, supply chain leaders are not always included when designing patient care paths or protocols.
In this session, clinicians and administrators will provide insight on how they have incorporated supply chain leaders into care path design discussions and implementations. They will also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of care pathways and the future of care pathways with the implantation of the ACA.
1. Discuss how cooperation across sites and specialties can impact patient care.
2. Analyze the supply chains role in the standardization of medical supplies in care pathways and protocols.
3. Identify the advantages and disadvantage of care pathways and the future of care pathways with the implantation of the ACA.
