Unlike traditional entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs seek primarily to generate social value rather than strictly profits. For this conversation, we will be joined by three individuals who are using business practices to solve social problems in Columbus and around the world:
Mohammed Ashour is the CEO of Aspire, a social enterprise conceived of in 2013 as part of the Hult Prize, the world's largest and most prestigious competition for social entrepreneurs. Aspire seeks to disrupt chronic food insecurity and malnutrition by developing low-cost and high-output farming of edible insects.
Buddy Teaster leads the largest provider in free shoes to children in need around the world. Soles4Souls distributes clothes and shoes directly to people in need and to selected micro-enterprise organizations.
As Co-Founder and CEO of the Tony R. Wells Foundation, Tony Wells fosters entrepreneurship and social investing by non-profit organizations. His Foundation currently sponsors the Social Innovation Initiative at The Ohio State University.
