Tuesday 12th May 2015 saw the first test train run on the Borders Railway. Although plenty trains have been on the track prior to this, including tamper trains and trains delivering ballast, they have not been travelling more than about 5 mph. This one, the first to resemble a passenger train was travelling at 20 mph. Here we see it coming over the new Hardengreen Bridge, the new Gore Glen Bridge, out the Bowshank Tunnel and passing through Galashiels Station before ending its journey at Tweedbank Station. Note that the test train was due to run the day before, but a deer collided with it at Prestonpans forcing its postponement for a day.
