In Acadia National Park there is a section called Schoodic Section. At the very far reach of the section is Schoodic Point. This video captures the low tide waves coming on to the rocks. Notice the moss, barnacles, and water staining on the rocks. These all indicate how far on shore the waves break and they do send spray high in the air. This is the docile version on a simply perfect Maine day.
