The National Association of Free Clinics held a two day event in Kansas City, Mo. on Dec. 9-10, 2009. The two-day Kansas City CARES clinic provides a glimpse into the uninsured and under-insured individuals in the Kansas City area.
The clinic saw 2,236 patients. The patients reported a total of 5,126 conditions, the most frequent specific service being dental. The patients received 2,406 tests or vaccinations. Patients between ages 39 and 58 accounted for 50% of the patients.
The event received national media attention and was the fourth free health clinic organized by the national association.
