Today the second caterpillar formed a chrysalis. I set the time-lapse to every 3 seconds just before it happened. This after a full night of waking up every two hours (compliments of my daughter) and checking the progress.
Watch the head and antennae once the formation begins. It appears that it flows up to the top and then abruptly POPS off! Most peculiar.
My son and wife saw the whole thing in real-time. It only took 3 minutes from the time the caterpillar dropped to vertical from the J formation to a completely formed chrysalis. There's one more caterpillar crawling around. I hope to get it in real-time.
