these little "helmets" cover tappits which are placed in a
drilled 1/4" hole and are Tapped (imagine that) into position
and they hold the copper firmly in place. The these little buggers get some lead free solder after fluxing of course,
(the kind of solder used for potable water) which since it will be burind in the mortar needs no mechanical attachment.
It was "some windy' up there today. Oh yeah and in the mid to high 40's,,, not your regular winter in Maine.
