Proof of concept tests done at Larkin Art Gallery for my Canvas Keyboards or Canvas Controllers. Note the wires hanging out of one of them - this would not be the case in the final product. I'm using these for people to control my digital interactive artworks. Each of these are just using one painting, however ideally I'd like to use several paintings, so that people can use their whole hand to touch each. This is the next stage in the development. (And obviously the next stage is also to make better and more engaging paintings - these are very quick things).
I'm interested in looking at new ways to engage with digital interactive works, but also new ways to meld digital and traditional art media. I already use traditional media a lot to make my digital content, but this tactile interaction takes this a step further. It is also nice to think of the idea of people being required to touch paintings to make the artwork 'work' - something traditionally not allowed in an art gallery.
