I love Scolawi was a 2014 community art project between Auchtermuchty, Scotland and Blantyre, Malawi.
Ordinary adults and children in both countries attended workshops to etch (scrape) what they love about living in their country onto photographs that were taken in the other country (Malawians etched onto Scottish photos and Scots etched onto Malawian photos). Jenni Gudgeon took the base photos, which portrayed the plants, geography, animals and architecture of each country. The project culminated in an exhibition of the best pictures shown in both Scotland and Malawi. This gave people in both countries the opportunity to see the work on display, and take pride in the partnership.
