Ten years ago in Hammond Louisiana, Doug and I founded S.W.A.M.P. as a way to address the effects of global corporate operations and mass media.
This was the same year that BP changed their slogan from " No Dry Holes" to "Beyond Petroleum" effectively rebranding (or green-washing) itself as a corporation that sees past our dangerous dependence on fossil fuels. Clearly BP is as committed to furthering their oil expansion as they ever were. The current oil spill (of 20,000 to 70,000 barrels per day) makes clear that there are serious human and environmental ramifications when it comes to drilling for oil.
There has always been a deep and abiding respect for and enjoyment of the Louisiana wetlands and wildlife. The effects of this “spill” have been devastating to the bird and animal sanctuaries along the coast. Now is the time for us to do what BP is not doing.
PLEASE HELP WITH THE CLEANUP
