Prevention Institute and the Movember Foundation are pleased to introduce the Making Connections for Mental Health and Wellbeing Initiative and to invite applicants to a funding opportunity to support planning and implementation of upstream, community-driven, mental health and wellbeing strategies for men and boys. The Web Forum will provide an overview of the funder, the initiative and the funding opportunity including information on the two-part selection process that begins with submitting a letter of interest according to funding announcement guidelines by Friday June 12, 2015.
This initiative, funded by the Movember Foundation, builds on a detailed landscape report, Making Connections for Mental Health and Wellbeing Among Men and Boys in the U.S., which details the current state of mental health for American men and boys, and discusses societal challenges and opportunities for healing. Consistent with report findings, the Making Connections initiative encourages applicants who can design multi-sector, collaborative approaches for high-need communities such as boys and men of color and their families, and/or military and veteran communities/families. Eight to ten sites will be selected to receive awards of up to $150,000 for a one-year planning period. Selected sites may be eligible to receive 2-4 years of implementation funding.
