From 28th March 2015, Heri Dono presents his first solo exhibition in Sweden entitled ‘Animachines’ at Färgfabriken, Stockholm.
As part of their long commitment with Indonesia, Färgfabriken showcases Heri Dono’s works through an extraordinary visual experience, which expresses the artist’s uniqueness through his distinctive style and raw presence that are intriguing yet provocative.
The installations in the ‘Animachines’ exhibition reflect Heri Dono’s own life experiences of metaphoric relations between humans themselves, human to nature, human to universe, as well as the complex issues of the political situation in Indonesia.
By combining animation and animism, Heri Dono showcases thirteen major artworks in bridging the two notions through his creative processes, enthusiasm and mind curiosity on questioning the culture and socio-political ideas presented through the influence of globalisation and Indonesia’s democracy. With the believe of animation as a technique of bringing something to life, Dono applies animism as the spirit that has made objects into living subjects.
The exhibition runs until 28th June 2015.
