The presented prototype was developed as part of a master thesis project, investigating the exploration in a 3D network created with data from the web using a virtual reality environment and motion controls. The corner stone of this prototype is an application developed in Unity that is working together with the Oculus Rift DK2 and the Leap Motion controller. As a complement, there is a Node.js server running in the background, which fetches data from Wikipedia, DBpedia and WolframAlpha, storing the data in a MongoDB database and providing the visual structures to the Unity application for the visualization.
