What is the Golden Lap
The Golden Lap Award honours the most all-round cross country mountain biker for his/her contributions to the mountain bike sport. The public, teams and the press all can select the mountain biker with the most technical skills and charisma and recognize his/her sports personality.
With this award we wish to bring more attention to the international and Olympic merits of the sport. In all fairness, it is important that every member of the press and of the official teams be able to quote their favourite racers. By dividing the weight of the total points equally amongst the 3 voter groups (30% press, 30% teams, 30% public and 10% from UCI ranking), we believe that everyone will be able to recognise the winner as such.
