Spring time in Providence has found me watching a small group of crows who feed off the trash and waste at a strip mall. The large parking lot is spotted with tall light poles and the crows choose to perch on these poles and watch the fast food drive through. On occasion the car will drop a french fry or part of a doughnut. The food chains have dumpsters for the birds to scavenge. This makes it a prime spot to record the crows landing.
I am impressed with the agility of these birds and the difference in landing aplomb. Here is a comparison between two birds. The first bird flapping to negotiate the decent the second using wing and tail like a parachute.
