In 1999, seven year-old Ardjana Mani went to visit relatives living at the Kosovo border. While playing with her cousins she saw a bright colored “toy,” later identified as a KB-1 submunition. The explosion caused extensive injuries.
Now aged 16, Mani is a high school student in Albania. She will join the Ban Advocates initiative for the first time in Oslo in December 2008. She speaks Albanian and English and is accompanied by Mr. Jonuz Kola, Executive Director of the Victims of Mines and Arms-Kukes Association.
