Vier Skizzen für ein Stiegenhaus / Four Sketches for a Staircase
by Claudia Larcher
4 channel video installation, 4 seamless loops, different lenghts
For a solo exhibition in the Kunstverein das weisse haus Claudia Larcher created a site specific video animation in the staircase of a school which is about to be demolished. With the study of this specific space, the artist refers as well to the Kunstverein‘s tradition of using different abandoned buildings as an exhibition space. The traces of wear in the space and the fact that the building will
soon disappear were motives for the creation of the work. Four monitors with video animations were differently arranged in the staircase, dealing with different feature of the architecture itself. The videos play between thirty seconds and two minutes and repeat seamlessly. Details of the wall, the stairs or the banister are visualized and transform into abstract forms and surfaces.
