Between the end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010, together with the spanish graphic design studio Bosco, we took part in a project to re-design the signage and wayfinding system of the City of Arts and Sciences complex in Valencia (cac.es).
While Bosco (boscographic.com) reinvented the whole signage system, we were asked to design and develop the digital counterpart for a network of fifty Lcd screens inside two buildings of the complex. The main issue we were asked to address was to allow simple, and fast editing of contents, at the same time assuring the delivery of a consistent house-image.
Thus, we designed a bespoke system architecture, featuring a main server to manage, distribute and synchronize all the displays.
A custom Content Management System allows to create and organize contents into sequences that can be scheduled and assigned to one or more screen simply selecting it on an interactive map of the buildings.
The application also integrate data feeds coming from an already existing ticketing system.
