Different regions, cities and localities are gearing up for Votes for Women centennial celebrations that celebrate women's freedom to vote by honoring the 72 years it took from 1848 to 1920 to win voting rights for American women. That's why it's prudent to ask if tourism is top down or bottom up. Politicians are fond of arranging deals with big hotels and corporations to set up tourism in local communities without any thought of whether or not it results in long-term and sustainable benefits for the region or community.
