Silk-screen printing Kreuzberg Style!
The poster artists Stefan Guzy (born 1980) and Björn Wiede (born 1981) run both their design office “Zwölf” and a small screenprinting studio from a factory loft in Kreuzberg, Berlin.
The project was born from the desire to print their poster designs with their own hands: the two graduates of the Berlin University of the Arts collected the rare equipment together and simply set up their own printing studio. They started printing first for themselves, then for friends, and then later for friends of friends. From the start they have always said: no ink with solvents, don’t be afraid of complicated projects and no t-shirts please.
The studio is now best known for its use of unusual, sometimes even self-developed inks and rare papers. They have been honored with international prizes such as the Art Directors Club New York and Tokyo, the European Design Award and the Annual Design Award of the American Institute of Graphic Arts in New York. They have exhibited at all of the major poster biennales and are regularly voted among Germany’s 100 best posters.
