One day community based action.
Olek was creating sculptures as audience member were bringing her their clothes in three colors: red, white and/or blue. The donation was destroyed as the artwork was created. Static and metamorphosing, old and new, unique and fleeting, public and private, hidden and exposed, performer and creator, traditional and innovative, decay and renewal, were all interchangeable.
Special thanks to Tracy Candido, Adult Programs Intern Educator at the Brooklyn Museum.
This piece was originally performed at Chashama, NYC – supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
