Details and spaces is a project by 75 first year BA(Hons) Interior and Spatial Design students at Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts, London.
Students studied and surveyed the architectural details of both Tate Britain and Chelsea College of Arts, focusing on the historic ornamental language, in search of discovering imagined spaces hidden within. They documented these details in drawings and models. A number of details were chosen and enlarged, using wire, wood and paper to form two structures large enough to inhabit inside. One structure was situated on Chelsea College of Arts parade ground and the other in the forecourt of Tate Britain, linking the two institutions spatially.
The project was sponsored by Kupambana.
