Communication involves three primary steps; thought, encoding, and decoding. It starts with the thought, the process of thinking. Thinking uses rational judgement and reasoning, or thought. Encoding is when a message is sent to a receiver in words or other symbols, and decoding is when the receiver translates the words or symbols into a concept or information that can be understood. The adult attention span is 3-8 seconds and shrinking every year making it more important to grab peoples attention with content that stands out. As technology evolves we have better tools to analyze risk management. Methodologies, processes, and definitions can be useful, yet the increasing number of technological combinations and devices really give us less time to test, and tell our story. As a tester it’s becoming increasingly more important to accurately communicate what you are thinking about.
