Disturbingly simple and tantalisingly strange THE DEMOCRATIC SET 2 is a rapid series of short video performance portraits. With no individual performance lasting longer than 16 seconds THE DEMOCRATIC SET 2 is a cavalcade of portrait, soap box and drama.
Presented in a purpose built film set, each performance takes place in the same egalitarian environment, the result is a visual forum, an assembly that demonstrates how performance as an experience and way of reading the world can, like democracy, allow people to be seen, to speak and to be heard.
THE DEMOCRATIC SET 2 is one of two short films created by Back to Back Theatre as part of residencies with Theatre of Speed in Geelong in 2008 and the 2009 Castlemaine State Festival in Victoria, Australia.
