Take a look #BehindTheScenes at the spectacular Crickethaslanded 2 promotional film by Affixxius: affixxius.com
Following on from the success of last year’s campaign, we approached the 2015 “Cricket Has Landed 2” campaign with even more ambitious and outrageous ideas than ever.
This year saw us introduce 3 alien monsters to the story, and required an even tighter integration of live action and CGI.
The composite was done in a software package called Nuke. Nuke is the industry standard for film compositing and special effects. It’s a node based software package, which essentially means that you build your composite by adding parameters and effects into a ‘node tree’. This node tree is like a vast, ever expanding, family tree of effects.
Chaz (VFX ARTIST) “Some of the standout shots for me are the shots of the aliens disintegrating. This was all achieved in the comp, with a combination of 3D particles, rotoscoping, glows and various colour adjustments. Also the shot towards the end of the film when our final alien hits a fireball out of the stadium, which is then chased by our cricketers fireball. The airplane handycam view that follows, shows the 2 fireballs from a completely different angle. Giving a unique perspective on the chase, and a glimpse at the overall scale of the battle as a whole.”
The end result of Cricket Has Landed 2 is something that we as a company are very proud of.
