Object/Subject of Desire is an exploration into the contradictory (and oddly amusing) nature of wanting and being wanted. Its central visual element is a large, white paper ballgown that is fragile and stiff, translucent yet unyielding. Within this costume the many complexities of desire are discussed, and the many ways desire can be negated and denied. Produced at The Western Front, Vancouver. Screened throughout India and Sri Lanka (as part of a touring video package organized by Opera. Other screenings include Carillo Gil Museum (Mexico City), Magnetic North touring exhibit, Walker Arts Centre (Minneapolis), the Museum of Modern Art (NYC). Purchased by The Canada Council Art Bank. 5:15 min. 3/4” video. 1993.
