My Studio Time #1
In my drawing practice conceptual ideas vary from project to project but the main general thread is that drawing has always been a very meditative process. It calms me in a certain way that no other genre of art can. These series of drawings were made while riding the Metro System in the Washington DC area. It is a prime example of meditation because every time I ride the Metro the incompetency of this transit system infuriates me. Many times I’ve been stuck in a train on the way to work and I have taken my tablet out and have made the most of my situation by using my drawing mediation to calm myself.
Also the underlying concept idea of this drawing project is the power of turning so much negative energy into a positive outcome. This positive transformation is my life practice and is in itself an art form that should be practiced on a daily basis. In my case I transformed “my stuck in a train time” into precious “studio time.”
