Soles of Ethiopia is a short, poetic documentary about shoes in the Ethiopian capitol Addis Ababa. The film reveals personal stories about those wearing, shining, repairing, collecting and worshipping shoes.
These are the stories that are often forgotten in a country almost exclusively associated with the ‘Big Problems’, such as AIDS, war, hunger and poverty. Soles of Ethiopia gives an insight in the daily reality of the capitol, and shows it is mostly determined by individual choices. Who goes for style and who wants sneakers?
