My friend Chicken John and I emptied out a funeral parlor in Palo Alto that was passing on and everything that anyone didn’t want we took home to his art warehouse venue, The Chez Poulet. A chandelier, a dozen paintings, the electric organ, a casket, an embalming table and all the instruments, candlesticks, etc etc. Chicken put on a variety show on the subject of death, featuring an actual embalmer, and the audience took home whatever they wanted when it was over. And it was a free show. Turns out, those paintings were worth thousands of dollars. This is from my portion of the evening, with a couple technical glitches edited out for fluidity’s sake.
