This three generation family takes pride in continuing the Old World culture of their heritage in historic Teotitián, Oaxaca, Mexico. Their wool rugs are reputed to be most outstanding at the hands (and feet) of Francisco, the Master Weaver & Artist. Not far behind, son Isaac has already been featured in Textile magazines honoring the Old World designs, but Isaac is also making a good reputation for himself with New Ideas and New Designs. The family members begin with clean wool and do EVERYTHING in their own family compound. Carding, spinning, and dying the yard with brilliant natural dyes they prepare themselves from natural organic products such as plants, seeds,
and even from the rare insect, Cochinia, which makes brilliant reds. It was a great pleasure to be in the home of these artists. I brought a small blue rug back with me that Francisco's wife had created. This family is a MUST-See if you get Oaxaca! I hope you'll enjoy the video.
