A Tree is a LIVING Thing: (The Schelling-Piper Experiments) Is a 13 minute video. Philosophical ideas were developed in conversations with Pauline Phemister. The time-lapse animation was developed with Adam Proctor. First presented at Peacock Visual Arts, Aberdeen, Scotland, 2010. The video raises questions about aesthetic truth, natural freedom, cultural freedom and the role of the imagination and creativity in the resolution of logical inconsistencies.
'A Tree is a LIVING Thing' was an integral part of an installation for the the solo exhibition "Plein Air: The Ethical and Aesthetic Impulse" presented at Peacock Visual Arts, Centre for Contemporary Art, Aberdeen, Scotland, UK. The exhibition was curated by Angela Lennon. It ran from 2 July through 14 August, 2010.
