All it takes is a quick Google search to reveal the public perception and, in almost all cases, the unfortunate reality of the poverty and danger in El Salvador. It's a country that only in the last 25 years emerged from a brutal civil war that ended with 75,000 reported deaths, and is still dealing with the aftermath.
What you won't read about online is the amazing spirit, love and resiliency of El Salvador's people. I had the opportunity to spend 12 days shooting a mini-doc for the Family to Family Foundation (familytofamilyfoundation.org/) and learning about the immense struggles the country faces. This is the trip through my eyes.
El Salvador is the smallest and the most densely populated country in Central America with a population of 6 million people and a geographical size slightly smaller than Massachusetts.
