BREATHe, a new piece of music theatre by Orlando Gough, was developed through research in the Respiratory Medicine department at the Churchill hospital. It is directed by Emma Bernard and was first performed at The North Wall Arts Centre, Oxford on 1 November 2015 as part of a one-day Festival of Breath.
This film explores breath - from our first to last - through Orlando Gough’s music, combined with reflections on breath from a range of perspectives from medical science and literature to musical performance.
The Breath Project was developed by artlink in conjunction with Oxford Contemporary Music and the Sound Resource project Singing for Better Breathing, Oxford Aspire and Oxford University Humanities department. It was supported by ORH Charitable Funds, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, The Radcliffe Trust, a Wellcome Trust Arts Award and Arts Council England.
