Glue Tarsorrhaphy

This is Richard Allen at the University of Iowa. This video demonstrates placement of a glue tarsorrhaphy. This patient is one week status post enucleation of the left eye. Due to edema and some lower lid laxity, he is unable to retain his conformer. A glue tarsorrhaphy will be used so that the conformer is retained as the edema improves. Tissue glue is then used in this case and placed along the closed eyelid margins. Any tissue glue or cyanoacrylate based glue can be used. After the glue is dry, the eyelids stay closed. Usually this will last approximately two weeks.
