According to the symbolic language of mythology, a serpent is considered as a form of life as it sheds off its skin and gives birth to a new one. In Hindu and also other mythologies, the snake is a positive form of life and it is also worshiped as one of the Gods.
The idea for this video came from the above readings in mythology as well as from the research and photography work that I have been doing on the local Indian Robot culture since 2009. These robots are inspired and adapted from the various Indian myths and are culturally implemented through socio-religious festivals in Mumbai and other cities.
However, the overall aim and experiment in this film presenting with video game like visuals, is to assemble a locally made snake robot and illustrate the above thought of the Serpent as a metaphor of life where we all are entering it and then getting reborn in our own man-made environment and seemingly getting caught up in its cage.
