Francine Fleischer at PechaKucha Night Hamptons, Vol. 11
March 6, 2015
Francine Fleischer’s exposure to the arts started as a child when she studied ballet with the New York City Ballet and the American Ballet Theater. As a teenager, she switched her focus to the Visual Arts studying painting and design, ultimately receiving a BFA in Painting and Photography from SUNY at Purchase. There, Francine studied photography with Jed Devine, Jan Groover, Laurie Simmons, and Victor Schrager. She also completed a 1-year apprenticeship with sculptor Judy Plaff. After graduating, she worked as a first camera assistant and printer to Annie Liebovitz, Kelly Klein, and Michel Comte, an invaluable experience, which prepared her for a career in photography that has taken her around the world and allowed her to pursue her artistic endeavors.
A lifelong city girl, she moved to the beach with her family several years ago where she has been inspired by and in the water. She now divides her time between Sag Harbor and Brooklyn, NY.
