“Within you there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself” - Herman Hesse
Body Language is a self-portrait that explores massage and how I feel inside my body contrasted with how it appears externally. My hands represent the surface, visible self and the charcoal is the ephemeral, fluid, internal self that emerges through touch and movement.
Massage and physical connection play an important therapeutic role in my life, where I can attain physical and emotional release. Through touch I am able to connect to my nature as a biological entity and the rhythms of my physical body, making me feel more real.
