American Dream started as a dream pop duo formed in New York City in 2011, consisting of Corinne Callen (vocals, guitar, organ etc.) and Tommy Furar (guitar, bass, drum programming etc.). Callen's chanteuse vocals and tremolo picking guitar style meet Furar's groove driven playing in a combination that feels dreamy yet upbeat. Their songs tell of 'hope' focusing on soundscape all the while alluding to their allegiance to rock n' roll. They have been described as somewhere between 90's indie rock band Mazzy Star, Fleetwood Mac, and a 60's girl group.
The two met while sharing a bill at the legendary 11th St. Bar in the East Village of Manhattan and began writing songs and playing shows together, first as a duo and soon after with a full band.
Last Summer, the band recorded 4 songs in Brooklyn NY with producer Gregory Lattimer (Albert Hammond Jr. "Yours To Keep"). Lattimer worked his magic to help deliver retro pop songs with an indie rock attitude. Their debut 7", for the songs 'Something To Be' and 'Tell Me' was released in November 2014, on East Nashville label Semi-Pro Records.
The two made their way to East Nashville, TN, where they soon met up with drummer Jonathan Biggs and lap steal player David Dyas, adding to their psychedelic western dream pop sound.
They are currently playing shows, and continue to record songs for their upcoming LP (expected in the summer of 2015) with producer Rudyard Lee Cullers.
