‘Schindler’s List‘, one of the greatest films ever made in the whole history of cinema, is not a masterpiece just because critics adored it and was showered with accolades. It is because, it reminds us that we still are barbarians, compared to the nearest relative of man, who has better and Godlier qualities than the best of us could ever muster. The film also is not just about the unforgivable atrocities committed by Germanic barbarians and their counterparts of the 19th and 20th centuries; it also makes us think about numerous human races, who were, and continued to be, colonised, raped and pillaged; racially abused, enslaved, slaughtered and debilitated individually or as whole nations, for the cruel and ravenous benefit of a few wealthier and stronger nations and those behind their wheels.
The score to ‘Schindler’s List‘ by John Williams, unarguably the greatest film music composer of all time, in another instance of the continuing success story of the collaboration with Spielberg, is the lifeblood of the movie, because it encapsulates the premise of the film in one unforgettably haunting melody that should remain in our collective subconscious for generations to come. This video is a tribute to the two geniuses, without whom, cinema would still be largely a barren landscape, as it did until the groundbreaking Spielbergarian gems, like Duel, Jaws, Close Encounters, ET, Raiders of the Lost Arc and Jurassic Park, painted it vivid green forever!
