Panchalingeshwara Temple, Govindanahalli

This Hoysala temple, believed to be constructed in 1237 AD is a majestic beauty, a temple containing 5 sanctum sanctorums for the 5 aspects of Lord Shiva, Sadyojata, Vamadeva, Aghora, Tatpurusha and Ishana. The panchakuta temple whose chief sculptor is believed to be Mallitama, is situated amidst the natural bliss towards the corner of the Govindanahalli village of Mandya district. The temple also has rich carvings of innumerable deities, including the 24 aspects and 10 incarnations of Vishnu, Mahishasura Mardini, Ganesha, Subrahmanya, and the likes.
