This video simulates the information that the eye receives. The retinal image is inverted, primarily blurred at the periphery, where there is also reduced colour information. Recorded saccadic eye movements have been used to simulate the motion of the image of the world on our retinas in the latter half of the video. This will be generated in real time by the eye tracking technology and one member of the audience.
For the audience in the moving image installation, the video represents what they will perceive. For the participant whose eyes are tracked, he/she should see a stable image, with sharpness and colour evenly across the visual field.
In the immersive moving image installation, we intend for two people to look at the same video sequence and yet perceive it differently.
