Flooding on this Amtrak's usual route has it running temporarily on the Union Pacific's Geneva sub.
After a less than stellar, 13 hour day of chasing trains, I was able to cap it off with this. So I'll put it up first for the day. And since it's somewhat timely.
While driving home from Savanna, I received a call from Clarke ("Trainut") about this train. At the time I thought that I wouldn't be in position to catch it, but when he called again to inform me that it had been delayed, I altered course to get in front of it. I ended up at Pritchard Road, east of Cortland, Illinois since I had recently been there to shoot a few late day videos and photos.
For future reference: This train hit the Union Pacific MP 78.8 detector west of Rochelle, Illinois at 7:37 pm. It passed me at MP 51.7, east of Cortland at 8:03 pm. So that's an average speed of about 62.5 mph. Including the time in which it had to slow to cross the Rochelle diamonds.
