Woodstock, NY became a retreat for activist women at the turn of the 20th century. A place for a retreat and a hospitable place to live for women artists and women of all kinds. The story of this unique history is now becoming well known. Charlotte Perkins Gilman, a well-known suffrage activist, is one of those activists with deep roots to the town and the supporting friendships that came with it.
