Organizations have invested heavily in rearranging their operations to improve care. Another opportunity lies in understanding the clinicians themselves: what factors enable clinicians to provide the best quality care. By knowing what distinguishes the highly productive physician from their peers, we can explore how to improve every clinician’s provision of care.

Grant Innes has 30 years experience in community, tertiary and inner city hospitals. He has served as Chair of the VCH Emergency Services Council, Head of EM at St. Paul’s Hospital, Head of EM for the City of Calgary, and Editor-in chief for the Canadian Journal of Emergency Medicine. He was the architect of the VCH overcapacity protocol implementation in 2006 and the Alberta OCP in 2010. He is recognized as an expert in ED and hospital operations, and has consulted at several major hospitals across Canada.
