Hearing yourself and recognizing your voice is an experience that precedes the recognition in the mirror. The voice as an object, a totally essence-less object, comes from deep inside each individual, from their privy timbre. It is the ground of desire, the thing-in-itself of the invoking drive. Beyond it is a dangerous and attractive force, although in itself empty and frivolous. Voice is a medium of communication as well as an art form.
We opted to bring together the sound of our voices with the regard (gaze), and to disrupt the relation between the noticeable, the sayable and the thinkable without having to use any message as a vehicle. We realize that what language and the body have in common is the voice. Far from mere recording of these two elements, we aim to create a new relationship by combining them, by getting very close to two human organs, the mouth and the eyes. We examine how they manifest through their minimal, corporeal daily life gestures. We seek a configuration of the visible and the invisible, a statement of sound and silence through performative and sensory action.
