This Program features Jackie Cowell, Executive Director NH Early Learning, Karen Juall, Even Start Family Literacy Program, Manchester School District, Janet Cocchiaro, PemiBaker Literacy Task Force and Let’s Read Together Volunteer and myself, Kimm Phillips Training and Volunteer Coordinator, NH State Parent Information and Resource Center.
The Program is a panel discussion focused on the importance of parent involvement in developing early language and literacy skills with their children. When we talk about literacy people think of reading- but learning about literacy is more than reading books. In addition to reviewing what the research confirms, this show provides low-cost, practical ideas to take advantage of everyday opportunities to encourage conversation and thinking skills.
Included are practical, easy to learn tips and ideas for parents to use during everyday experiences like going to the grocery store, preparing meals, driving in the car, singing, conversation and games to introduce sounds, thinking and learning.
